The Downs course at Goodwood is a mix of golf. You open with Parkland golf reminiscent of some holes at Wentworth and then you wander high onto the South Downs with breathtaking views and play golf similar to that which you would find at the London Club in Kent with long wispy grass ready to catch any errant shots.

Good wood has 2 courses and the Downs is a completely different affair to its sibling (The Parks course).

Justin Rose was a recent ambassador and the members course is truly wonderful to play. From the pro tips you are asked some serious questions to realistically make the green in regulation on 1 or 2 of the opening holes, but he shaping of the greens and the recent bunker renovation has added a truly classy feel to the place and whilst it is busy you are should never play a round of more than 4.5 hours.

Good wood gets my vote which is why I was a member for a year.
